Multi-zone systems with three or more indoor heads take one to two days and run $6,500–$11,000. If a new dedicated circuit has to be run from your panel, add two to three hours. The step worth asking about is the vacuum: pulling a deep vacuum on the refrigerant lines before charging removes moisture that would otherwise form acids and destroy the compressor within a few years.
Mini split or central AC — which is better for a Texas home?
It depends on one measurable thing: the condition of your ductwork. If your ducts are sealed and sound, a high-efficiency central replacement at $12,000–$22,000 is usually the better value.
